1. Who we are

SnakeWise is a brand, not a separate company. The website at snakewise.org, the SnakeWise name and logo, and all SnakeWise content are owned and operated by Joshua Israel Ventures LLC ("we", "us", "our"). When you use the site, your agreement is with Joshua Israel Ventures LLC.

2. Educational information only, not professional advice

Everything on SnakeWise, including the guides, the species and identification pages, the blog and the safety page, is general information for education and interest. It is not veterinary, medical, legal or other professional advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your situation.

• Snakebites: if you or someone else may have been bitten by a snake, treat it as a medical emergency. Call your local emergency number immediately (for example 911 in the US, 999 or 112 in the UK and Europe, 000 in Australia) or contact a poison control centre (in the US, Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222). Do not rely on this website for first aid or treatment decisions.
• Pet snakes: for the health or care of a pet snake, consult a qualified reptile veterinarian.
• Identification: our identification content is simplified and is not a field key. Never handle, approach or try to catch a wild snake based on anything you read here.

3. Using the site

You may read, share links to and print SnakeWise pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish or sell our text, illustrations or code in bulk, or present them as your own, without our written permission. Don't misuse the site, for example by trying to disrupt it or access it in ways it was not designed for.

4. The Slither Game

The Slither Game is a free browser game provided for fun, as is and without any guarantee that it will work on every device or be available at all times. Your best score is stored only in your own browser (see our Privacy Policy).

5. Brand and intellectual property

The SnakeWise name, logo, original text, illustrations, game and site design are owned by Joshua Israel Ventures LLC. Links to studies and other websites are provided for reference; those sites belong to their own owners and we are not responsible for their content.

6. Shop and future features

The SnakeWise shop is coming soon and no products are currently sold. If we start selling products, they will be sold by Joshua Israel Ventures LLC and any additional terms of sale will be shown before you buy.

7. No warranties

We work to keep SnakeWise accurate and cite sources, but the site and all content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Information may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. See also our Disclaimer.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Joshua Israel Ventures LLC and its owners, members and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any injury, loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, SnakeWise or its content, including any decision to approach, handle or identify a snake. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site will not exceed US$50. Some places do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
