Disclaimer
SnakeWise is general educational information about snakes from Joshua Israel Ventures LLC. It may be incomplete or contain errors, it is not professional advice, and it must never be used as a reason to approach, handle or identify a wild snake. SnakeWise currently has no advertising, affiliate links or sponsored content.
Accuracy
We base our content on published studies and reputable references and cite sources on our blog, but snake science changes, species are reclassified, and mistakes happen. Information on SnakeWise may be incomplete, simplified, out of date or wrong. If you spot an error, please tell us at joshuaofisrael@gmail.com.
Snake identification and safety
Snakes vary a lot in colour and pattern, harmless species often mimic dangerous ones, and our identification guide is simplified and is not a field key. Never handle, approach, catch or kill a wild snake based on anything on this site, and never assume a snake is harmless because it looks like a "harmless" example here. Keep your distance and contact local wildlife or snake-removal professionals. If a bite may have happened, call your local emergency number or a poison control centre straight away.
No professional relationship
Using SnakeWise, or emailing us, does not create a veterinary, medical, legal or any other professional relationship. Nothing here replaces advice from a doctor, reptile veterinarian, herpetologist or other qualified professional.
External links
We link to studies and other websites for reference. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
Advertising and affiliate disclosure
In line with the US Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements, we tell you about any material connection behind what we recommend. Right now SnakeWise has no advertising, no affiliate links and no sponsored content, and we are not paid for any mention or link. If we add ads, affiliate links, sponsorships or our own products (the SnakeWise shop is coming soon and would be run by Joshua Israel Ventures LLC), we will clearly disclose them on the pages where they appear and update this page.
