Privacy Policy
SnakeWise collects very little. There are no accounts, no sign-up or contact forms, and no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Our host (GitHub Pages) logs visitor IP addresses for security, Google Fonts receives standard request data when it delivers our heading font, and our games keep your best scores only in your own browser.
Who is responsible for your data
SnakeWise is a brand owned and operated by Joshua Israel Ventures LLC, which is the data controller for snakewise.org. Contact: joshuaofisrael@gmail.com.
What we collect, and what we don't
- No accounts or forms. The site has no log-in, sign-up, newsletter, comments or contact form.
- No analytics, advertising or affiliate tracking. We do not currently use analytics tools, advertising networks, affiliate links or tracking pixels, and the site sets no cookies.
- Emails you send us. If you email joshuaofisrael@gmail.com (our Contact link opens your own email app), we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and keep it only as long as needed for that, unless the law requires otherwise.
Hosting: GitHub Pages
SnakeWise is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc. GitHub states that when a GitHub Pages site is visited, the visitor's IP address is logged and stored for security purposes. We do not receive or control those logs. See the GitHub Privacy Statement.
Fonts: Google Fonts
Our heading font (Fredoka) is loaded from Google Fonts. To deliver it, your browser sends requests to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, which include your IP address, the requested URL and standard headers such as your browser's user agent and the page you are on. Google states that the Google Fonts API does not set or log cookies and that it does not use this information to build profiles or target advertising. See the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
Games: local storage
Our games save your best score in your browser's local storage so it is still there next time: The Slither Game uses slitherBest, Lookalike Lab uses swLookalikeBest, Scale Snap uses swScaleSnapBest and Shed Shuffle uses swShedBest3 and swShedBest4. These scores stay on your device, are never sent to us, and you can delete them at any time by clearing your browser's site data. The games need no sign-up, have no chat and contain no trackers.
Children
SnakeWise is educational and suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; the site does not ask visitors for any. If you believe a child has emailed us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
Because we hold almost no personal data, there is usually nothing to access or delete. If you have emailed us, you can ask us to access, correct or delete that correspondence by writing to joshuaofisrael@gmail.com. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under local privacy laws, and you may complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we add analytics, advertising, affiliate links, a shop, forms or anything else that collects data, we will update this policy before or when that change goes live and revise the date above.
